Teaching Yoga – Why I Love It

I have been teaching yoga for a few years now and for some reason it took me a while to pinpoint what I love most about teaching.
It’s the intimacy. We spend so much time isolating ourselves, walking by each other in the store, yelling at each other from inside our cars, putting up fences between our house and our neighbors’, making idle conversation at work, but when do we really get to know someone and be honest about who we are?
Most of us have a handful of good friends and family members who know us well, but why do we hold back so much of ourselves from the rest of the world?
It’s as if we all have created an unspoken agreement that problems and emotional vulnerability make us unlikable people.
In this Facebook culture, we strive to make our lives look as fabulous as possible from behind a screen and we forget what truly opening up to other people feels like.
On Fridays I teach a morning Power Yoga class and have a handful of regulars. One of those women came in recently and looked visibly shaken.
Her eyes were glossy with emotion, her posture that of someone in pain. She walked up to me and said, “If I seem off today it’s because my husband died yesterday, but I needed to come in. I needed to move and I needed your light.” Her words shook me to the core.
In that moment I realized how much I affect people as a teacher and how much they put trust in me. My job becomes to create a space where people come to feel good and to feel safe.
There is really not much beyond that. Will they be physically challenged, will they sweat, will they grow stronger or more flexible, will they calm their mind?
Sure, but none of that could happen if they did not feel safe with me and if they did not walk away feeling good.
It also reminded me of how much can be happening in someone’s life without them talking to you about it. Sure she said something to me, but what if she hadn’t?
I would have known something was different, but I never would have guessed that the woman in Child’s Pose in front of me had lost her husband to a battle with cancer just one day earlier.
That experience has stuck with me through all my classes since then. I am more aware, more open, and in turn more alive because of that moment.
I’ve also noticed so much more about my students. A woman who I know as a very put together woman who stays very busy as a consultant, has scars from wrist to elbow… scars that can only be self inflicted.
Another woman came in directly after finding that her boyfriend of nine years had been cheating on her for over a year.
I have seen people battle insecurity, injury, and fear all because they trusted me to be their teacher and because they made the choice to connect with me as a person.
Yoga is truly one of the most intimate ways two near strangers could ever interact, and for that I will be endlessly grateful to call myself a yoga instructor.

How To Lose Weight Fast At Home For Stay Home Moms With Lots Of Kids

An opportunity to exercise at a gym is like a dream come true for many moms. We say this not because of the pricey membership, but because of lack of time.
Many assert that stay-at-home moms have it easier as they are exempted from office duties. If you thought so too, you are terribly mistaken. In fact, it’s worse.
After doing the dishes, tidying the house, tending to a sick one, helping with homework and dishing out meals, there is no time and energy left to think of either dieting or exercise.
While most women accept this as their fate (we’re not given an option), it also pains them every time they struggle to zip up those jeans.
An expanding waistline compels them to buy large-sized clothing that they once proudly labeled “not my size”.
For all stay-at-home moms desperate to lose weight fast, but unable to go to a gym, here are tips to shed unwanted pounds. With this weight loss program, you can attain your weight loss goals without disturbing your regular routine.
1. Counting Calories
If you ask anyone how to lose weight fast for women, the first suggestion you will receive is keep a tab on your calorie intake. It is true. The number of calories you expend should be more than the number of calories you consume.
There are mobile applications to assist you with calorie counting. If you have just delivered and are breastfeeding, you should not reduce your calorie intake drastically.
Eating too little affects breast-milk production. We have an option for you in point 2.
2. Watch What You Eat
Selecting food items based on their nutritional value is another way to lose weight fast. It is essential to eat healthy foods.
How do we define healthy foods? Healthy foods are nutritious, filling and low-calorie. Avoid eating processed and packaged foods in large quantities as they are rich sources of fat, sugar and salt.
If you eat out say a 600 calorie pizza for lunch, balance the calorie intake by cutting calories in the following meals for the day. You should replace sodas and sugary beverages with fresh fruit juices.
Eat foods that take longer to digest as the body uses more energy to metabolize it. you can double up on proteins and fiber-rich veggies.
3. Eat Early
It is a good habit to eat early and when you have children, it is a must. Eating early promotes proper digestion. The body also burns fat in the time period after dinner and before you go to bed.
4. Get Enough of Rest
The body needs rest to function efficiently. Try to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep. If possible, steal a nap in the afternoon. Stress causes one to overeat. Practice yoga and meditation to de-stress.
5. Exercise, Exercise and Exercise
You won’t drop weight if you don’t exercise. Exercises for fat loss include aerobic and strength-training exercises.
Running, jogging, skipping are some aerobic exercises you can perform. Weight loss videos are also a great way to kick start a weight loss exercise routine.
The best time to exercise is when the children are at school or your infant is sleeping. Wear workout clothes when you exercise. It encourages you to exercise and achieve more.
Besides this, you can go for a 30 minute walk or simply walk to the grocery shop. Take your baby along in a stroller. It is a form of exercise too. In case of older children, involve them in your workout routine.
For example, you and your children can go swimming or cycling together or tend the garden.
So, there you go… these were five tips on losing weight fast. Incorporate them in your daily routine and see the difference.
Imagine how would your life be if you were thin and would be able to walk in your shorts and t-shirt without being embarrassed of how fat you are? What if all men would admire your?

How Do You Know This Is The Elderly Care Solution For You?

What Is Elderly Care?
Simply put, elderly care is a support service catered specifically for the needs of senior citizens in their own home. It is designed with the purpose of enabling its elderly patrons to live as independently as they are able to, with varying levels of help from care support assistants.
With a focus on respect and dignity, care agencies enable the elderly to remain in their own homes, maintaining as much of their routine as possible, with the added assistance of elderly care support.
Ensuring Continued Independence
As the strain and emotional distress of relocating to a residential home can often have a drastic effect on older people, more and more families are turning to elderly care as a viable solution.
The importance of maintaining individuality and independence can be vital, with the comfort found in both people’s own routine and the familiarity of their own home seen as greatly beneficial.
For those living with dementia, the personalised service of one-to-one elderly care is something that even the better residential alternatives struggle to provide, as bonds of understanding and comprehension are developed through familiarity and routine.
The benefit on the surrounding family is also evident, as loved ones are free to visit as frequently as they wish to, stay for as long as they can and even help out with household chores such as cooking and cleaning. For those who are unable to look after their elderly relatives full-time, this can be of great solace.
Elderly couples who struggle with maintaining their standard of living are able to stay with one another for longer, in the home they have built together, with elderly care, allowing them both the dignity and privacy they deserve.
Enabling Personal Care
Each person has different requirements for an elderly carer. Whereas some might just need help with dressing, bathing or washing, others may need support with varying household tasks, such as laundry and shopping.
Medical needs are also considered: care workers are able to support any medication that is required, as well as a nurse-led service that is able to administer more complex medical attention, such as ventilators or insulin.
With a system catered to the needs of the individual, a care agency is able to provide the exact assistance required for each person.
This enables those with minimal needs to continue living an independent lifestyle, and those that require more significant assistance to get the exact level of support they require.
Does It Suit My Needs?
Whereas some people thrive in the community setting of a retirement home, others prefer the privacy and comfort of the home in which they already live, and are both settled and comfortable in.
Whether it is the location, the pets that live there with them or even the beloved garden in which they devote so much time, a home can be of great security to the elderly.
With a care assistant, they can continue to live within this environment, with a specifically designed senior care plan catered to their every need.
The amount of care can be increased if necessary when required, and an essential continuation of independence, dignity and individuality is maintained.
A personalised level of care, with control over daily routines, whilst still enjoying the comforts of your own home is what elderly care assistance can provide, assuring the maximum amount of independence with the required amount of senior assistance.
